I ll be attending a conference in less than a week from now and I just got an email from one of the organizers on my opinion about designing tshirts. i told them that I wanted the name of the event to be explicitly visible, but in a small font though. You can also design t-shirts online and order for prints. I think this is a very innovative and easy way to celebrate a event and also a nice way to make a point and share the URL of your conference. They also have a load of other stuff which might be useful for you, like business cards, labels and banners.
